Description

Description

The mission of EAPN mission is to promote a socially inclusive and sustainable Europe, free from poverty and inequalities. In the next 4 years, this project will focus on defending the rights of people experiencing poverty, counting on their voices and the political analysis of 32 national networks and 13 European organizations, which are members of EAPN. The project will be carried out in multiple interconnected approaches: a) highlighting the information on poverty and inequality from statistical sources and from the testimonies of people affected, so that the EU and Member States governments act toward its eradication; b) follow-up the implementation of the Action Plan of the European Pillar of Social Rights in the Member States and, specifically, of the poverty reduction goal; c) monitoring and engaging with the European Semester, analysing the operationalization of European funds and the Recovery and Resilience Plans by the Member States, to ensure that the objectives of poverty reduction and social inclusion are progressively achieved; d) supporting people experiencing poverty in reporting and fighting for their rights in the EU, considering especially those with added vulnerability factors (gender discrimination, long-term unemployment, digital divide, homelessness, financial exclusion, disability, ageism, racism, xenophobia and other discrimination on various grounds); e) making proposals and working with coalitions in regards to key EU policies, such as the green and digital transition, to ensure that people in poverty benefit from them. To implement these approaches, the project will develop activities to strengthen our members’ capacity to advocate for our common goals at the local, national and EU level, by supporting them in understanding the policy agenda and its challenges. Last but not least, we will focus on broadening our audiences, to maximize support from the general public for the fight against poverty and social exclusion in Europe.
