This FC module Erosion Protection Madagascar - PLAE IV makes a contribution to the DC program Protection and Sustainable Use of Natural Resources. The aim of the FC measure is: In selected regions, small farmers organized in user groups manage erosion protection systems and large-scale reforestation to generate household energy on the basis of formalized land and usage rights. The most important results include support for the program communities in drawing up land use plans, setting up functioning services for issuing land use certificates, and support for user groups in implementing large-scale reforestation and erosion protection measures. The primary target group is the rural population of the priority regions DIANA, Sofia, Boeny and Betsiboka in the northwest and Amoroni Mania, Haute Matsiatra and Ihorombe in the central highlands. The PLAE IIV is conceptually and regionally based on the predecessor projects PLAE I and II and uses the experience of the TZ module GreenMad. The sponsor is the Ministry of Agriculture. The costs of the FC module are approximately EUR 10.6 million, with the FC contribution amounting to EUR 9 million. The implementation period is approximately 4 years.
