Erste&Steiermärkische Bank d.d. is one of seven systemically important credit institutions in Croatia. It is a part of the international Erste Group, one of the largest providers of financial services in Central and Eastern Europe. Since the scale and sophistication of cyber threats has increased proportionally with the efforts of companies trying to protect from threats and incidents, an occurrence of new severe cyber threats and incidents pressures the Bank to be more agile and proactive for continuing its essential services provision and preserving its cyber resilience. The Project’s overall objective is to strengthen Bank’s cyber threat and incidents detection, prevention and resilience capacities via establishing new Security Operations Centre (SOC) and raising cybersecurity awareness of individuals and organisations participating in the Bank’s ecosystem. However, this Project is not just a continuation of Erste’s pre-existing work, it is a huge step forward in improving its cybersecurity posture in this unpredicted digital world. Expected results include established SOC – Erste Cyber Guardian, raised level of Erste’s cybersecurity maturity, improved knowledge on cybersecurity and situational awareness of Bank’s ecosystem, improved Bank’s reputation, trust and credibility in the eyes of Bank’s clients, partners, sectoral institutions, regulating authorities, policy and decision makers as well as general public. Alongside with Project management as well as Promotion, Dissemination and Exploitation as supporting work packages, the proposed Project also entails the core work package under which a Security Operation Centre for Erste Bank Croatia, will be established. With the aim of handling the newly established SOC, raising knowledge and awareness, a set of activities under work package 4 will be implemented to educate Bank’s employees, clients and general public. All these measures will ultimately strengthen the cybersecurity posture of the Bank’s ecosystem.
