Description
Description | The project “München (Haar) – Rosenheim – Freilassing – border DE/AT (-Salzburg)” aims to modernize and harmonize key German rail sections along the Scandinavian-Mediterranean (ScanMed) and Rhine-Danube European Transport Corridors. The TEN-T routes covered by the project, are vital for European north-south and west-east connectivity. Considering increasing traffic volumes, EU regulations, and the necessity for efficiency, reliability and interoperable train control systems, this project will implement 14 interlocking measures and deploy the European Train Control System Level 2 Baseline 3 across 172,791 km of double track railway by 2029. The project aligns with Digital Rail for Germany program, contributing to the integrated regular-interval timetable and supporting the EU and German government’s goal to enhance rail transport’s competitiveness and environmental performance. Financing is secured through ERTMS-Financial agreements with the German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport. Additionally, the project benefits from its synergy with the Fast-Track Program, supported by the Recovery and Resilience Facility. |
