"DB Fernverkehr AG is the long-distance train operator of Deutsche Bahn AG and provides passengers with fast, comfortable, and eco-friendly travel within Germany and 14 other European countries operating a total fleet of approx. 518 vehicles, thereof 70 trainsets of vehicle series ICE-T, also operating cross-border to Austria. Overall objective of the Project is the upgrade of ""international hardware + software"" of the ICE-T fleet from ETCS Level 2 Baseline 2 SRS 2.3.0d to ETCS Level 2 Baseline 3 SRS 3.4.0 (Release 1), system version 2.0, to ensure its operational capability and cross border traffic to Austria. The ERTMS ""hardware + sofware"" upgrade project includes 48 Electric Multiple Units of type BR 411 from Bombardier called IC NeiTech (1. construction series) and ICT 2 (2. construction series) with two On-board units per trainset respectively with the following equipment: • ETCS Level 2 Baseline 3 SRS 3.4.0 (Release 1), system version 2.0, On-board units in conformity with Regulation (EU) 2023/1695, and • GSM-R, including the necessary adaptations and creation of the requisite conditions. It is intended to realize a total number of 96 serial hardware + software upgrades of On-board ETCS Level 2 Baseline 3 Release 1 (R1) SRS 3.4.0 equipment for a total of 48 ICE vehicle class T trainsets until end of June 2028."
