ESGAZ was created to carry out natural gas distribution within the adjacent area of Eskisehir Province in 1994. The company was a subsidiary of Botas Petroleum Pipeline Corporation, which in turn was a subsidiary of state-owned Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO). ESGAZ was privatized October in 2004 when the Turkish privatization administration sold 100% stake to Turkish Kolin Construction, Tourism, Industry and Commerce Inc. (Kolin Group) for US$43 million. The company was put on the privatization scheme in September 2003 and was sold through a block sale to Kolin Group. The final price (US$43 million) resulted from a final price negotiation.
