Espace Canevas Mall Redevelopment

under construction

Espace Canevas is a $1.3-billion redevelopment project of a 16-acre site in Gatineau, Quebec. It will include 192,000 square feet of retail space, 180,000 square feet of office and community space, 2.4 million square feet of residential space (about 2,600 units), and 120,000 square feet of parks and public space with 1,600 new trees. The project emphasizes a landscape-first approach, integrating parks, water features, and natural elements alongside built structures. The first phase, a six-storey building with commercial space and 140 residential units, is expected to be completed in fall 2026. The redevelopment also includes adaptive reuse of a former cinema into a community space and retention of a large metal canopy for public events.
