Description

ESS Tech has introduced the Bridge battery energy storage system (BESS), a modular 1.2 MWh sodium-ion battery system designed to provide power to data centers, critical infrastructure operators, and other commercial users. The system uses sodium-ion battery cells sourced from Alsym Energy and is capable of various charge and discharge profiles from 1 to 16 hours or more. The Bridge modules are plug-and-play units housed in 10-foot containers, stackable to deliver 4.8 MWh in the footprint of a traditional 20-foot container, with integrated system hardware and energy management software. The system operates in a wide temperature range and uses air cooling to reduce fire risk and relies on an alternative supply chain to mitigate critical mineral and geopolitical risks.
