Description

Description

As part of the utility's commitment to ensuring critical infrastructure remains safe and reliable, Cal Water started a large-scale water main replacement project in Menlo Park today. The upgrade will ensure that customers and firefighters continue to have the water they need for their everyday and emergency needs, both now and in the future. Cal Water will install 4,072 feet of new 12-inch ductile iron water pipe, as the existing main that was installed in 1945 is aging and becoming less reliable. Additionally, the utility plans to replace five fire hydrants and install three additional hydrants to enhance firefighting capabilities. Installation will take place on Middlefield Road, from Ravenswood Avenue to Willow Road. The project is expected to be completed by December 2022. "We are committed to providing our businesses and residents with a reliable, safe, and clean water supply around the clock," said District Manager Dawn Smithson. "Not only will this essential upgrade ensure we can do that, but it will also strengthen fire protection in the event of an emergency."
