Information Directorate of Health Services has come up with Establishment of Agartala Government Dental College Building at IGM Hospital Complex, Agartala with a ticket size of 202 INR Crores. This project in Medical Infrastructure sub-sector involves The current status of the project is DPR/Feasibility Study and is being developed through the EPC route. Economic/Social Impact of the Project The Government of Tripura in its commitment to improve the health and well-being of the people has provided extensive resources to the primary and secondary level public health facilities, however wide gaps exist between the desired and the actual level of services provided to the people at tertiary level, one of them is the establishment of Dental College. Tripura is set to get its first dental college starting from 2023-24 academic session bringing forth a new era of dental education in the region. The college has been set up in the new building of IGM Hospital Complex. Based on Dental Council of India recommendations, the Health Department has already created some infrastructure for classrooms, operation theatres, pathology and administrative work to start the 50 seated Dental College. It has felt needed that a separate Administrative and Academic Block along with Boys and Girls hostel to be constructed for obtaining approval for a Dental College by Dental Council of India.
