Establishment of Belarusian-Latvian Cooperation in the Field of Children's Palliative Care

Palliative care is defined as an approach that improves the quality of life of patients and their families facing life-threatening illness through the prevention and relief of suffering, treatment of pain and other physical, psychosocial and spiritual problems. The overall objective of the project is to establish collaboration between Latvian and Belarusian palliative care sectors in order to promote development and increase the role of palliative care in the state health care systems of both countries. The results of the project are: educational activities aimed at raising the skills and improving qualification of palliative care specialists in both countries; share of palliative experience and know-how; informative activities and working out a joint strategy as well as unified guidelines and documentation for effective palliative care performance.
