Establishment of Ground-Breaking Mobility System on Astypalea by Volkswagen and Greece

ongoing

The Volkswagen Group and Greece have agreed to establish a ground-breaking mobility system on the Mediterranean island of Astypalea. The project aims to transition the current transport system on the island to electric vehicles and renewable power generation, making Astypalea a model island for climate-neutral mobility. The project includes new mobility services such as vehicle sharing and ridesharing to optimize traffic, with energy primarily generated from local green power sources like solar and wind. The project is set to run for six years.
