Description

"A project ""Estonian Safer Internet Centre - Smartly on the Web VIII"" is a joint action of four organisations: Estonian Union for Child Welfare, Education and Youth Board, Tallinn University of Technology and Estonian Social Insurance Board. The overall objective of the project is to further develop and strengthen the existing national platform Estonian SIC in order to: 1) promote digital competence of children, parents, teachers and other relevant professionals working with children, raise awareness of online opportunities and risks, and ensure for these appropriate resources. To this end, all partner organisations carry out partly together and partly independently awareness raising trainings, seminars and workshops, organise joint campaigns (for example SID campaign), develop online/offline tools and methods (online safety exercises, training modules, video shots, online game, etc.). All developed resources and information about the events are available on the Estonian SIC website targaltinternetis.ee which is managed by EUCW; 2) provide counselling and support for children and parents via the Child Helpline 116111 in matters related to children's use of digital technology and services; 3) operate Hotline for receiving reports from the public relating to potential child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The project promotes and supports youth participation and encouraging them to express their opinions at national level and at European level involving children from different demographic background. In the frame of the project Estonian SIC cooperates with different stakeholders via Advisory Board. For ensuring child rights online best practice documents are prepared in cooperation with governmental agencies, service providers and educational institutions. Estonian SIC project contributes to European network Insafe by sharing resources, methods and statistics via BIK platform, taking part in training meetings and working closely with the network of hotlines."
