Ethiopia - Education III Project

The Education III Project is a follow-up to Education I & II Projects. Education I project aimed at improving primary education, upgrading polytechnic and secondary schools development of vocational technical schools, construction of all the facilities were completed and are fully operational. The Education II project aimed at expanding access, improving quality and relevance of basic education and fostering specialized manpower development. The present Project’s main focus is to increase access through construction and upgrading of primary schools and also contributing toward equity by constructing the classrooms in the marginalized and the underserved rural areas. Its outcomes are: i) Improved Access and Equity to Primary Education; ii) Improved Quality and Efficiency of Primary Education provision; and iii) Project Management capacity strengthened at the Ministry of Education and Regional Education Bureau levels. The project comprises three components, namely: i) Development of Primary Education; ii) Institutional development, covering local in service training in the field of Education management systems (EMIS); iii) Project Support, covering project support unit (PSU) with staffing, equipment, vehicles as well as operating costs.
