Ethiopia - Protection of Basic Services (PBS II) Program

The proposed supplementary loan will provide resources to scale-up financing to Ethiopia's regions and woredas (districts) for the delivery of basic services and the strengthening of public financial management (PFM) systems. Indeed, this proposed loan will provide resources that will allow higher basic services expenditures during financial year (FY) 2010/11 which would otherwise not be possible. This would in turn contribute in assisting the Government to reach PBS II targets that are at risk of not being met, due mainly to the decline in the initially anticipated resources in 2008.
