Ethiopia - Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Project

The present project concerns the Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Project. The project road maintenance equipment should arrest the deteriorating conditions of the paved and gravel roads in Alemgena and Jimma Districts. This contribute to reduce vehicle operating costs on these roads, and also enhance the reliability of road transport. The rehabilitation of the Semera-Elidar road section should extend the service life, reduce vehicle operating costs and road maintenance costs. The project consists of: (i) procurement of new equipment for road maintenance including spare parts; (ii) procurement of spare parts of the rehabilitation of existing equipment; (iii) pavement strengthening and reconstruction; widening and reconstruction of shoulders and improvement of drainage structures of 134 km semera (km 577) to Elidar (km 705) to 2-lane bituminous surfaced road 7 m wide with two 1.5 m wide gravelled shoulders, and (v) consultancy services for supervision of construction works for item (iii) above.
