Description

Description

The overall objectives of the EtD-FaM-Project is to contribute to the Ethiopian and Djibouti government efforts in realising the gender equality at HE level and industries. The specific EtD-FaM objectives are defined as: (1) strengthening practical skills of female staff, students and graduates through to hands-on training, (2) improving the quality of engineering and business education for female students through the specific makerspaces for females only, (3) improve females’ creativity in experimenting and innovation and (4) providing female staff, students and graduates a company-like environment for testing their practical skills. Moreover, the Project contributes to countries commitments to SDGs, CESA and COMESA. The Project Management orchestrates the activities to achieve the objectives. The equipment of the makerspaces is either donated from university labs, the private sector or procured. The six makerspace facilities are provided in-kind. The ToT prepares for the makerspace design, establishment and management. Certified ToT-participants are enabled to offer trainings in all COMESA-region. Monitoring & evaluation accompany the implementation. By the end of the project lifetime the makerspaces are brought to the Horn Makerspace Institute (HMI) as the umbrella organisation. The HMI and the 6 makerspaces get their own legal entity. Industry partners are providing feedback to the makerspace concepts, evaluating the makerspace in the implementation phase and form the Resonance Group, which become founding partner in the HMI. The target groups of EtD-FaM Project are female lecturers, students and citizen scientists. Overall, the Project will reach to ca 1800 women. The indirect outreach of EtD-FaM Project documents to potential readers via the open repository (NADRE) is not measurable at current time. The main output is the HMI are 6 makerspaces, graduates with vocational skills ready for employment and lecturers with a certain understanding of companies’ needs
