Description | Dangote Industries Limited has signed a $4.2 billion, 25-year natural gas supply agreement with China's GCL Group to power its upcoming 3-million-tonne-per-year urea fertilizer complex in Gode, Somali Region, Ethiopia. The fertiliser plant, valued at $2.5 billion, is being developed under a 60:40 equity structure between Dangote Group and Ethiopian Investment Holdings and is slated to begin operations in 2029. The project includes sourcing natural gas from the Calub Gas Field in Ethiopia's Ogaden Basin, delivered via a dedicated 108-kilometre pipeline to the fertilizer complex. This initiative aims to create an integrated energy-to-food value chain, enhance agricultural self-sufficiency, and stimulate regional industrial growth. |
