Ethiopia Large-Scale Fertilizer Project

Dangote Industries Limited has increased its investment in Ethiopia's large-scale fertilizer project from USD 2.5 billion to more than USD 4 billion, expanding the initiative to include additional infrastructure such as a 110-kilometer gas pipeline, a 120-megawatt power plant, a polypropylene packaging facility, and an NPK fertilizer blending plant with an annual production capacity of two million tons. The project aims to boost agricultural productivity, improve food security, accelerate industrialization, and enhance economic self-reliance in Ethiopia. Construction of the urea fertilizer complex began in October 2025, and once operational, it is expected to produce three million metric tons of urea annually, reducing fertilizer imports and supporting millions of farmers.
