Description

Description

During the 2026–2027 period, the Icelandic eTwinning National Support Organisation (NSO) will prioritise two key strategic goals: embedding eTwinning into Initial Teacher Education (ITE) and expanding outreach to rural and geographically isolated schools. These efforts aim to make international collaboration more accessible, inclusive, and sustainable within the Icelandic school system. Building on Rannís’ role as the Erasmus+ National Agency and its coordination of several EU and Nordic programmes, the NSO will continue fostering synergies across sectors and with key stakeholders. Deeper cooperation with ITE institutions will promote the integration of eTwinning into teacher training, ensuring that student teachers are equipped with the skills and motivation to use the platform early in their careers. In parallel, rural outreach will be strengthened through targeted support, new ambassador appointments in underrepresented regions, and direct engagement with schools. A key focus will be promoting meaningful and effective use of the European School Education Platform (ESEP). Teachers will be supported through training, communication, and hands-on guidance, ensuring that they can navigate the platform and engage in high-quality, collaborative projects. The ambassador network will play an active role in mentoring new users and promoting good practice. The NSO will also reinforce the link between eTwinning and Erasmus+ by supporting schools in combining actions and recognising excellence through national awards, Quality Labels, and eTwinning School Labels. Subject-specific outreach—especially to STEM and language educators—will help expand the community and diversify project topics. Through this inclusive and strategic approach, the NSO aims to ensure lasting growth, wider geographic and institutional reach, and deeper integration of eTwinning and ESEP into the professional learning and teaching practices of Icelandic educators.
