Description

Description

"As part of its strategy, Business College Helsinki (BC) is strongly committed to internationalization. Additionally, BC is an accredited EBBD (The Certificate of Excellence in European Business Behaviour and Democracy) college, offering students the opportunity to acquire a special certificate of excellence in their business studies. Since 2023, BC has also been part of the European Ambassador School network. The project ""EU and You - Understanding the European Union"" (EUYOU) aims to achieve the following objectives: 1) Increase the number of classes involved in EU learning experiences, 2) Expand key subject areas or extracurricular activities where the EU is taught, 3) Increase the number of teachers engaged in improving EU issues, 4) Improve the quality of innovative EU teaching and learning methods, and 5) Enhance students' learning outcomes about the EU Indicator. Our institution has a long tradition of using active teaching methods, emphasizing learning by doing. These methods involve students actively participating in the learning process, tailored to different learners and subjects. To further enhance our educational offerings, we will develop both mandatory and optional courses, integrate EU literacy into various subjects, and organize EU-related simulation sessions and events. These courses will become a permanent part of our institution's curriculum. Integrating EU education into school curricula is crucial as it equips students with a comprehensive understanding of the European Union's functioning and values, fosters active citizenship and critical thinking, and prepares them to navigate and contribute effectively in an international context. By embedding EU education into our curriculum, we not only enhance our students' academic and professional competencies but also empower them to become informed, engaged, and proactive citizens in an increasingly interconnected world.
