Description

Description

EUGYSET, coordinated by the Greek Municipality of Agia, with 14 countries, represents an innovative cross-border initiative designed to foster meaningful intergenerational dialogue about the past, present and future of European integration. By bringing together young adults (18-21) and seniors (60-65) from EU member states, candidate countries and non-EU nations. The project creates an unique platform for exchanging perspectives on Europe's evolution, challenges and opportunities. This ambitious initiative addresses the growing generational divide in understanding European affairs. While younger participants bring fresh, digitally-native viewpoints shaped by Erasmus mobility and climate concerns, older contributors offer historical context from having witnessed key moments like EU enlargements and the euro introduction. The project's methodology combines facilitated deliberative dialogues, immersive role-playing exercises, and policy simulations to bridge these perspectives. A consortium of municipalities and organizations ensures geographical and thematic diversity. Activities range from local workshops to transnational meetings, all employing innovative techniques like digital storytelling and gamification to enhance engagement. Special attention is given to including rural communities, women, and minority voices often excluded from EU debates. Key objectives include strengthening European identity, combating misinformation, and developing policy recommendations that reflect intergenerational consensus. The project also builds sustainable networks for ongoing civic participation, with digital platforms ensuring continuity beyond physical meetings. By documenting and disseminating these cross-generational conversations, EUGYSET aims to influence both local governance and EU-level policymaking. It represents a timely response to Europe's democratic challenges, offering a model for inclusive dialogue that values both youthful innovation and senior wisdom.
