Description

Description

This is an application for a Jean Monnet Module. This application combines teaching, debating and research activities with a strong innovative character in order to reach excellence in these three fields, but with the aim at fostering the dialogue between the academic world and the society, including policy-makers, civil servants, civil actors, representatives of the different levels of education and of the media, that will be targeted through several of the actions included in this petition. The actions in this proposal aim to generate knowledge in this specific area of EU Law (European Union as an international actor) focusing in the new role to be played by the EU in such area and rethinking the possibilities of the sanctions Regimen design in EU Laws. The Project aims to study all the implications of having such a policy and the ways to develop it in accordance with EU principles and values. The EU is not simply a single market for goods and services. Europeans share values that are spelled out in the EU treaties and the Charter of Fundamental Rights. Values and principles that have to inform the EU global strategy towards the international community in order to achieve one of its keys priorities, a stronger Europe and the rule-based multilateralism. I shall lecture one course of the subject EU’s Legal Institutions and one course of European Union Institutions. Some of the scheduled outputs are: (1) publication of a three peer reviewed articles and didactic materials in open access format (2) organisation of workshops and a summer school; (3) publication of a collective book; and (4) creation of different synergies between scholars. These activities aim to provide in-depth teaching on EU matters in a field which is increasingly developing and to mainstream and diversify EU-related subjects throughout the curricula proposed by the University of Valencia to their students, opening a new area of research.
