Description

Description

The project “EU goes School – Lehrkräfte als EU-Botschafter:innen (EGS-LAB)“ aims to encourage student teachers and in-service teachers to reflect on their own attitudes towards Europe, support them in building up conceptual knowledge about the European Union and its functioning, and to enable them to develop and enhance teaching skills in order to create learning opportunities for pupils to learn about, for and through Europe. Through three measures, (future) teachers are to gain knowledge about the EU: the project wants to design a Europe-e-learning course that can be completed in self-study. In addition, a seminar is to take place in a mixed group of teacher students and in-service teachers. As a third measure, a multiplier system is to be set up that functions according to the precept of ‘training the trainer’: Already trained multipliers will themselves offer further training courses and thus, in turn, train multipliers. Furthermore, the establishment of a cross-border network with neighbouring Bavarian states is planned, so that the multiplier programme will also have an international component. The second aim of the project is to support student teachers and in-service teachers in designing lessons on EU topics. These teaching modules are to be published as OER on a website, so that they can also be used after the end of the project. Thus, at the interface of European, democratic and values education, a sustainable didactic model is to be developed that enables schools of all kinds to design and sustainably anchor contemporary education for a democratic Europe in a variety of ways. The project aims to develop a European identity among student teachers and in-service teachers that will enable them to design convincing and high-quality lessons on Europe. In the long term, this should also lead to the development of a European identity among pupils.
