This proposal covers actions relating to area 2 – “Further development of global value chains statistics” and area 4 – “Profiling” of the respective call. In the area of global value chains, the proposal suggests to enrich data collected in the 2021 survey on global value chains and international sourcing by linking the micro data to information from other relevant statistics, like SBS, foreign trade, FATS, R&D, business register, etc. This data will be analysed, and respective indicators will be calculated, in order to gain deeper insight in the ways in which Austrian enterprises organise to participate in these areas. At the same time, the project will analyse some specific issues of the 2021 national survey in order to better understand their effects on the resulting data and to derive recommendations for future action. Thus, this action shall contribute to the preparation of future national surveys in the field as well as to the European methodological discussion and preparation of future EU legal measures. As concerns “Profiling”, the proposal suggests continuing Statistics Austria’s recent efforts in profiling (complex) multinational enterprise groups by profiling two intensive and one light cases in the course of 2023 for the reference period 2022. At the same time, it is expected to perform some 25 partner cases, both using the newly elaborated methodology for European profiling. Results will be fed into the EGR by using the IPT. In addition, compiling recommendations and suggestions shall be collected to be fed into the preparation of future profiling programmes. As an additional task, the UCI information on analysed GEGs for RY2023 will be updated as it is contributing to improve the quality of the EGR initial frame 2023 and triggers for restructuring cases will contribute to strengthening the Early Warning System. The project will be executed in the NSI’s SBS unit in close cooperation with various other relevant units in the office.
