"The EU Youth Dialogue is the main instrument of youth participation in Europe. Young people and decision-makers come together to exchange views on a specific issue. The topics are given Europe-wide and are worked on and circulated by so-called ""national working groups"". The Council of German-speaking Youth (RDJ) coordinates the working group in Ostbelgien. The members of the NWG take care that the EU Youth Dialogue also take place in their region: They ask young people to give their opinion on the respective topic. They bring these opinions to the European level through the European Youth Conferences. They use the input they got there from other countries and from the European level for their home region. In Ostbelgien, they then work out possible solutions with young people in order to improve the situation of youngsters in the matter of the respective issue. They discuss these possible solutions with local political decision-makers in order to finally work out and publish realistic recommendations for action. For this project, we as a national working group want to make the EU Youth Dialogue happening in Ostbelgien. 2021 is the second and third part of the 8th cycle of the EU youth dialogue. On the one hand, we are still asking young people for their opinion concerning youth participation. On the other hand, we implement projects in order to let youngsters know how they can participate in political decision-making processes in Ostbelgien. Moreover, we discuss the needs and challenges of young people with stakeholders and political decision makers. We try to start processes so that we reach the goal of a better youth participation in Ostbelgien. The application will enable us to organise the activities of the national working group in Ostbelgien around the EU Youth Dialogue and to improve the situation of young people in our region."
