Description

Description

"The EU-Korea Partnership at a Crossroads represents the foundational concept of the HUFS EU Centre. This initiative emerges at a critical juncture marked by unprecedented global challenges. The EU and Korea have maintained a strong partnership founded on free trade, democratic principles, and multilateral cooperation. However, intensifying geopolitical rivalries, economic shifts, and the pandemic's impact have placed significant pressure on global governance. As like-minded partners sharing democratic values, the EU and Korea enhance cooperation to address economic security risks, de-globalization trends, and threats to the rules-based order through enhanced diplomatic, regulatory, and cultural cooperation. Drawing from the concept, the Centre's activities are structured around three interconnected pillars. First, "" Building a Strategic, Value-Based Partnership in a Changing World"" addresses global security challenges and democratic resilience, particularly in response to regional conflicts and the imperative of strengthening partnerships. Second, ""Forging Resilient Economic Ties in the Digital Age"" focuses on post-pandemic transformation and technological innovation, emphasizing digital sovereignty and economic security. Third, "" Bridging Cultures for Innovative Solutions"" aims to enhance educational partnerships and youth engagement for sustainable cooperation. To implement the above, the Centre will provide teaching, publications of journals and books, research and outreach activities, academic conferences, and workshops & Colloquiums. These activities are supported by rigorous project management, including regular monitoring, evaluation, and quality assurance measures. The Centre's impact is measured through both quantitative metrics and qualitative assessments. Also, the Centre aims to expand its dissemination efforts through active collaboration with government institutions, businesses, civil society organizations, next-generation leaders, and media partners."
