Description
Description | With the EU NGOs as non-state actors being largely ignored in both the research and related teaching practice in China, this project is aimed at applying the studies on EU NGOs from the Chinese perspective to the EU-related teaching in Renmin University of China, by initiating an EU NGO focused curriculum system for RUC students both majoring in liberal arts and science. Through setting up an over-all program consisting of the courses, lectures, and activities of local study tours on the non-governmental organizations under the framework of European Union, the unique functions of EU NGOs in consolidating European integration and promoting the in-depth global governance are expected to be diffused and cemented among students of RUC and hopefully nearby key national universities on the intercollegiate course selecting mechanism. Specifically speaking, two courses of “EU NGOs in the Process of European Integration” and “EU NGOs in the Global Governance” would be opened, related seminars are to be regularly organized, expert lectures on EU NGOs outstanding advocacy and operational activities would be introduced, and local study tours to EU NGO related institutions are to be arranged. The major purposes of the project are to make RUC students keenly aware of EU NGOs’ indispensable existence in the most-needed corners of the world and the EU’s largely non-utilitarian contribution behind the scene, understand the cooperative spirit of EU member states with NGOs as connective tissues and feel the EU spirit of “Open Method of Coordination” and “Social Dialogue”. To guarantee the quality of the project, the applicant is to make consultation with the Teaching Advisory Committee to be established, which consists of the most prestigious scholars and experts in the EU and (EU) NGO studies and of the Chinese civil society organization circle. Besides, an over-all evaluation system is also to be established for general quality control and dynamic monitoring of the project. |
