This Module aims to enrich the Eurasia International University’s part of the Double Degree Master Program in Security and Human Rights (jointly taught by EIU and Tuscia University, Italy) with the EU Studies angle explaining the EU as a global and regional security actor. For this purpose, the Module introduces the mini-program “EU, Security and Human Rights” consisting of introductory and advanced courses taught by the multidisciplinary team of lecturers and guest speakers. Being an integral part of the Double Degree Master Program, the Module is open also to external participants as a certificate program. This not only adjusts the curriculum of EIU to the objectives of the Double Degree Program, but also further develops the University’s educational offer by introducing new and innovative courses in EU Legal and Political Studies. The Module further seeks to internationalize students’ experience and introduce the “learning-by-doing” teaching approach. This is achieved by organizing the International Student Security Forum and two simulations of the decision-making in the EU institutions focused on contemporary security issues and challenges jointly with Tuscia University. Furthermore, as an innovation, at the end of the Module, students are expected to produce short videos explaining the EU and its role in addressing the main security challenges (globally and regionally, with the specific focus on the EU’s role in conflict resolution in the South Caucasus). Targeting the general public, these video materials will raise awareness about the EU and serve as a public diplomacy initiative. On the other hand, the exercise will develop students professional and soft skills. The public awareness is also raised through the open public lecture series. The Module fosters research on the role of the EU as a global actor in the EaP region. One joint publication will be co-authored by the Module’s team and published in a peer-review journal.
