Description

Description

The EU Regional Trust Fund for the Syrian Crisis - Madad (hereinafter referred to as the EU Trust Fund) is financed by the EU and its member states, currently Turkey and possibly other donors, and is managed by the EU Commission (Directorate General Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations - DG-Near). According to its founding document, the EU Trust Fund aims to respond to the Syrian crisis with coherent, coordinated and increased aid measures at regional level. The initial focus will be on the needs of refugees from Syria seeking refuge in neighbouring countries and the communities that have taken them in, as well as the needs of the administrations responsible for them. The focus is on strengthening resilience and first steps in the recovery process. After the end of the civil war, the EU Trust Fund is to be adapted to the reconstruction needs within Syria. The financing volume of the EU Trust Fund amounts to EUR 1.84 billion (as of September 2019).
