EU Youth Dialogue - Implementation of the EU Youth Dialogue in Germany

The EU Youth Dialogue (EU YD) in Germany is being implemented by the German NWG. The German Federal Youth Council (DBJR) coordinates the NWG and holds the chair. Therefore, DBJR is applying for the funding of the project to implement the EU YD 2021. The EU YD is the youth participation tool of the EU, playing a mayor part in sustainable and meaningful youth participation in Germany and Europe. Implementing the EU YD, the German NWG gives the opportunity to as many young people as possible to engage and participate politically and societally and to get empowered. Taking the perspective of a rights-based approach, which is reflected in the demands of young people in the EU, the NWG is convinced to always strife to strengthen the EU YD as a participation tool reaching as many young people as possible. Especially young people with fewer opportunities are a target group that shall be in the focus of new activities put into place in the framework of the EUYDs implementation process. Looking at current political and societal developments in Germany and in Europe as a whole, it is a crucial task to strengthen democracy. Thus, we need to engage and connect young people and through that empower them. In line with the EU Youth Strategy, this is exactly, what this project will be aiming for. Young people will be empowered, using methods and implementing activities deriving from a long and sustainably grown expertise present in the NWG and in the DBJR. At the same time, the German NWG is always integrating new inputs, methods and solutions to overcome obstacles. It is the mission to engage young people through topics they themselves propose. Being convinced of the power of a bottom-up-approach, the European Youth Goals play an important part framing the activities and actions implemented. To make the EU YD process as accessible as possible, the project will entail online and offline activities at all levels (from local - European level) and focus on inclusion and sustainability.
