The European Union of the Deaf (EUD) is the sole EU-level organisation promoting EU values and advocating for equality, non-discrimination, and meaningful participation of deaf people, ensuring accessibility through national sign languages. With this funding, EUD will deliver policy work that informs EU decision-making: policy analyses, reports, advocacy letters, recommendations, toolkits, contributions to public consultations, and other outputs. EUD will strengthen bridges between EU and national levels by building the capacity of National Associations of the Deaf through mutual learning, trainings, workshops, seminars, and European-level events. It will also produce EUD TV episodes on key EU policy areas to support national implementation and engagement. Communication, dissemination, and awareness-raising will present information on the rights of deaf people—and EU legislation, policies, and initiatives—in linguistically and culturally accessible formats (International Sign and English). All activities advance the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the EU Disability Rights Strategy 2021–2030, the European Pillar of Social Rights, the EU Pact for Skills, the EU Preparedness Union Strategy, the EU Gender Equality Strategy 2026–2030, and other relevant EU frameworks. EUD’s work creates favourable conditions for gender equality and addresses multiple and intersecting discrimination, in line with the EUD Statement on Intersectionality and EU policies on intersectionality, with specific attention to the rights of deaf people with intersecting identities (including racial or ethnic origin, religion, languages, gender identity, disability, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, age, and other identities).
