The European Public Health Association (EUPHA) is the umbrella organisation for public health associations and institutes in Europe. EUPHA has 85 members from 47 out of the 53 countries of the WHO European Region, including members in in all EU Member States. EUPHA’s network brings together around 39,000 public health professionals for information exchange and collaboration throughout Europe. EUPHA is a science-based organisation and we encourage a multidisciplinary approach to public health. We actively seek strategic partnerships, including with partners outside the direct scope of public health to stimulate intersectoral action. An important asset of EUPHA are our 26 sections. These bring together expertise on specific public health themes (e.g., chronic diseases, infectious diseases control, mental health, environment and health, health promotion, etc.) and are instrumental in providing the evidence base to inform EU health policy. EUPHA’s activities cover the broad scope of public health, and as such contribute to most of the specific objectives of the EU4Health Programme. EUPHA’s specific added value here is the generation and dissemination of scientific knowledge and advocating to ensure that this knowledge is brought into the policymaking process, and building capacity, thereby contributing to a well-equipped and resilient public health workforce. We do this through our ‘triple A approach’ for public health: Analysis, Advocacy and Action. In this proposal, we describe how the operating grant would help EUPHA to deploy more activities and increase our impact. For this, we will use EUPHA’s main tools: our fully Open Access scientific journal the European Journal of Public Health; our contributions to the annual European Public Health Conferences; the European Public Health Week; and our advocacy activities, most notably publishing statements, responding to public consultations, and being represented in key European stakeholder and advisory groups.
