Eureka Slough Bridges Project

Caltrans is planning to replace the northbound and southbound Eureka Slough Bridges located on U.S. Highway 101 at the northern end of the City of Eureka. The project would address seismic deficiencies and improve the function and geometrics of both bridges. The preferred alternative would replace the two existing bridges with two new, mirrored structures. Each bridge would have two traffic lanes, standard inside and outside shoulders, and a separated bicycle and pedestrian path on the outside edge. Work would include bridge construction and removal, temporary access and trestle structures, in-water pile driving, drainage, landscaping, guard rail upgrades, cable barrier connections, paving, bicycle and pedestrian improvements, traffic handling, and utility relocation.
