Description

Description

EuroClio is a network of professionals who believe that history and citizenship education should strengthen democracy, promote human rights, and commit to the rule of law. Through our work, we support the development of young people as competent and engaged citizens who are committed to protecting democratic values based on a critical understanding of our shared past and work towards a world without hate, racism, discrimination or violence in any of its forms. Our vision is for all learners, regardless of their gender, ethnicity and background, to become more responsible and contributing citizens through engaging in history, citizenship and heritage education. Our mission to achieve this is consequently to inspire and empower educators to engage learners in innovative and responsible history, citizenship and heritage education. The EU Operating Grant 2026 will enable us to work in on European Rembrance topics in the field of research, educational resources, capacity building, outreach and advocacy; strengthen the capacity of ourselves and our member organisations; expand our reach; have a measurable increase of our impact; and work to address: - The backsliding of democracy, erosion of rule of law, and loss of respect for human rights, in Europe and the rest of the world. - The misuse of history and education for ideology and political gain. - Debates about contested histories ignite and fuel conflict instead of helping to resolve them. - The continued under- and misrepresentation of groups of people, such as women, who have been traditionally marginalized in the historical record and public history. - The limited voice of practitioners and learners in educational policy making, especially those of minority background. - The lack of structural and interdisciplinary cooperation among stakeholders promoting European remembrance.
