Euroguidance Ireland (EG-IE) operates in accordance with the overall Euroguidance Network objective: 'To develop the competence of the guidance community on the European dimension of lifelong guidance'. EG-IE is hosted, co-ordinated and delivered through the Irish National Centre for Guidance in Education (NCGE) an agency of the Irish Dept. of Education, operating under the aegis of Léargas (the National Agency). The core objective of EG-IE is to provide supports, information, resources, materials and continuous professional development (CPD) for the guidance community in Ireland (approximately 1000 professionals) to develop their competence on the European Dimension of Lifelong Guidance. EG-IE will promote and provide public access to all relevant materials pertaining to this European dimension. Delivered by qualified guidance professionals and expert support staff and working in collaboration with other relevant colleagues in post-primary (secondary) schools and Further Education and Training (FET/VET) sectors in particular, EG-IE also liaises with guidance provision in Higher Education, Public Employment Services and Youth Services to promote the European dimension and mobility. Furthermore EG-IE actively collaborates with other European Networks in Ireland and abroad such as Europass, EQF, Eurodesk, EURES amongst others.
