Description | The project involves increasing the capacity of the Europa Terminal at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, Belgium, by 1/3 and facilitating the transition to a climate-neutral port. The project includes large-scale offshore works to create berths for vessels with a draft of up to 16 meters, increased from the current 13.5 meters: Demolition of the quay wall and replaced with a new wall of the same length (1200 m) but in a new orientation; Construction of a temporary retaining wall to demolish the existing harbor wall and protect the structures from tides and passing ships; Creation of temporary berths to ensure the continuation of shipping; Construction of an underwater barrier to protect the Galgenskhor nature reserve. |
