Europe Around Us By implementing this project, we aim to increase students’ awareness of the functioning of the EU, strengthen their sense of belonging to the EU, and promote active citizenship. We will encourage students to think about the role of the EU in their daily lives and in the world. Teaching about the EU will be integrated into the following subjects: 1) Geography (Social Studies): Studying the geographical aspects of the EU, such as member states, their capitals, and significant geographical features. 2) History (Civics): Teaching about the history of the EU, its formation and development, significant events, and key figures. Discussing key historical moments that led to the creation and growth of the EU. 3) Civic Education (Civics): Discussing the values of the EU, its institutions, and decision-making processes that affect the daily lives of citizens. Analyzing the rights and responsibilities of EU citizens and their role in the democratic process. Planned activities: 1) Project Week - European Day of Languages: Celebrating the linguistic diversity of the EU through various activities such as language games, presentations, and cultural exchanges. Students will have the opportunity to learn about different languages and cultures of EU member states. 2) Visit to the Parliament in Prague: Organizing excursions to the Czech Parliament, where students can learn more about the functioning of democracy and the role of the EU in the national context. Study visits to institutions and organizations connected to the EU, such as the European House in Prague. 3) Project Week - celebrations of Europe Day: Students will work on various topics such as the history of the EU, its institutions, or current political issues. Project outputs may include presentations, posters, essays and projects. This project will provide students with a comprehensive view of the EU and its significance in their lives, helping them to understanding role of the EU in the world.
