"Our project should concern the topic ""Citizen Europe"". It will be a synthesis of academic actions and initiatives aiming at bringing the academic world closer to the European civil society. We intend to prepare seminars, to organise a summer school, to enrich our course programme at the University of Aegean with a new course dealing with ""Sociology of European and International Law"". In addition, we aim to launch an information, guidance and material platform for secondary school teachers, supporting and encouraging them in the development of a specialised European studies programme for secondary school students. This choice will concern the training of the future European citizen. Another part of our project will be the writing of a collective volume on the objective of revising the Lisbon Treaty, taking into account the current conditions in the European Union. The part devoted to the project's relations with civil society will be focused on two main areas: on the one hand, the updating of journalists in the region (Aegean Sea) -where our University is located- through the organisation of a specialised distance learning and continuing education seminar. These actions aiming at the continuous training of journalists on the priorities of the European construction could contribute to the creation of reliable sources for the citizen's Europe. this is because we know perfectly well the influence that the mass media exert on public opinion. The second axis will focus on the importance of governance in the new era of the community phenomenon, investing especially in the evolution of participatory democracy. These relations with civil society will have one main objective: to raise awareness about the aims of the Conference on the European Future, organising actions (webinars) and focusing on the content of the European citizenship. A second collective work will also be published on the perspectives of the Conference focused on its priorities and the instruments. "
