The project aims to foster EU citizenship by making learning about the EU motivating and meaningful. Providing learning experiences about the EU at school will connect the European project with the student’s daily lives. It will enable students understand the construction of the UE, identify and compromise with the EU values (democracy, solidarity, freedom...), and understand that the EU is a project under permanent construction that has faced and faces dilemmas and crisis that need decisions to be taken. Getting to know the EU better and the challenges that it faces will engage students with the European project, will make them aware of the role they play and will have to play as European citizens and will foster their commitment with the evolution and construction of the EU. Using an evidence-based and problem-solving approach methodology, students will not only learn about the EU but will also discover that European people is affected by world events and crisis and that taking decisions and actions to face these challenges is not as simple as it may seem. Learning experiences will not only include regular learning about the EU (history, institutions, accession process...) but also class activities in which students will play different roles to find solutions to specific dilemmas that affect the EU. This evidence-based and problem-solving activities will be created by teachers trying to maximise higher level thinking time around the concept order of cause and consequence. Activities should help students understand the impact of decisions at a geopolitical and a geo-economics level, so as to discover that there are no easy solutions and no clear answers to the challenges the EU faces. Working with other EU schools trough eTwinning will foster the creation of the European Education Space. The project will heighten with mobilities to the European Institutions to practice what students learnt and increase the connection with these institutions.
