Description
Description | European Academy Berlin (EAB) is one of the leading civil society organisations on European civic education in Germany, directly involving approx. 3.000 citizens and stakeholders across 32 countries each year on average. EAB follows two approaches to bring its overall vision of a strong and resilient European democratic society to life: civic education and capacity building, which are targeted at two different groups: citizens and democracy-relevant stakeholders such as policymakers, teachers, and journalists. Today, this purpose is as significant as it was 60 years ago when EAB was founded. For the next 4 years EAB plans 15 multi-annual, European projects addressing approx. 11.800 citizens directly and with an expected and verifiable outreach of approx. 1.4 m individuals. We expect that 50% of our participants will be women and 1% non-binary persons. EAB’s activities follow three different strands: inform, empower, and engage citizens. In each strand EAB applies distinct formats, which allow to reach the different target groups effectively. Each strand covers relevant EU policies and/or values and addresses them in a way to allow citizens to form their own judgement and voice their opinion. Innovative formats including deliberative methods, digital knowledge transfer and hybrid exchange, wide outreach and citizen activation characterise EAB’s programme. Gender and non-discrimination mainstreaming is deeply anchored in EAB’s daily work and considered during the whole policy cycle. “Europe on track - Unstucking, Reactivating and de-Nationalising European engagement (EU-TURN) ” is EAB’s motto for the coming four years, starting with the European Year of the Rail in 2022 and motivated to bring European integration back on track after a deep crisis. |
