Description
Description | Strengthening our EU democracy and countering disinformation to a large extent depend on the media literacy of its citizens and their ability to make informed decisions. Particularly important are demographic group of young citizens in its full diversity on whom exposure and impact of disinformation campaigns is biggest. Therefore, “Europeans Against Fake News / EAF” project aims to enhance media literacy of young European citizens and spark their critical thinking in order to counter disinformation and interference of fake news in the democratic debate and inspire their socio-political activism. In order to reach this aim, a trans-national partnership of 4 NGOs and 1 international network is established. We will implement 5 EAF events – 4 in-person and 1 online event. These events will introduce innovative Youth Community Hackathon (YCH) methodology for enhancing media literacy and critical thinking skills of large number of young people and for inspiring creative activism in countering fake news in EU. Each of these events will be different, as we will have always new participants and produce always different creative outputs addressing fake news – graffities, Escape Game Challenge, virtual exhibition, podcasts and flash mobs. 1000 young European citizens will be directly involved from at least 10 EU countries in innovative hackathons and latter in experiencing creative activism. Furthermore, we will directly involve 120 Media and Policy Experts and 120 Youth Educators, both from at least 11 EU countries. Local municipalities in EU will be reached for integrating media literacy and countering disinformation into their actions and strategies (at least 50 municipalities in EU). Indirectly, at least 656 000 citizens more will be reached and engaged with the project. Other cross-cutting results are: EAF Alliance, EAF Policy Recommendations, EAF web page and online guidebook for YCH methodology and video clips addressing 24 most common fake news. |
