Description
Description | Academy Two is an independent Italian distribution company based in Rome, active since 2012 and specialised in the acquisition and theatrical release of European art house films. The company has built a strong identity around high-quality cinema with cultural, artistic and social relevance, and is widely recognised for its curated and coherent editorial line. Over the past decade, Academy Two has released more than 100 titles, including award-winning films from major international festivals such as Cannes, Berlin, Venice and Toronto. Its catalogue reflects a balanced combination of acclaimed directors and new talents, with a focus on gender equality, linguistic diversity and underrepresented perspectives. Operating in a highly competitive and centralised national market, Academy Two remains committed to offering an alternative to mainstream commercial cinema. Its strategy integrates traditional theatrical releases with innovative promotional tools, audience development initiatives, and strong collaborations with schools, universities and cultural institutions. The current proposal aims to support the circulation of European non-national films through a consistent editorial strategy, prioritising artistic excellence and cultural value. The project will involve the release of 3 to 5 titles within the eligibility period, accompanied by targeted promotional campaigns and outreach activities across Italy. Particular attention will be given to young audiences, educational formats, and long-term cooperation with local cinemas and European partners. Backed by years of experience and a clear mission, Academy Two intends to reinforce its contribution to the visibility and accessibility of European cinema, building sustainable distribution practices and fostering inclusive cinematic experiences. |
