Description
Description | The European Composer and Songwriter Alliance’s (ECSA) project aims at promoting a fair, sustainable, and inclusive framework for all music authors. Its objective is also to increase the competitiveness and professionalisation of European composers and songwriters as well as to promote the diversity of European repertoire. To reach those objectives, the project includes more than 12 advocacy, awareness raising, and capacity building activities to improve the working conditions, remuneration and contractual position of all composers and songwriters. The working groups on Diversity & Inclusion, European Fair Practice, Music Streaming, Environmental Sustainability, Tech and AI, and Royalty Free music will gather data, provide analysis and formulate concrete proposals, such as a European Fair Practice Code, a Sustainability Charter and recommendations against buyout contracts. Several public events, such as the Creators Conferences, will promote the network’ views and positions to policy makers and the cultural and creative sectors. In addition, the “Capacity Triangle” webinars, will foster the professional adaption of music creators through knowledge and skills whereas the ECCO concerts and the Camille Awards, will promote talents and develop audiences in contemporary and film music. The project also features three International Creators Dialogues, which will address the international dimension of those issues with collaboration and exchange within the music authors community across the continents. The project will not only benefit all 59 ECSA Members organisations, and more than 30.000 composers and songwriters represented by the Alliance but will also serve as a representative network for all policy makers and music sector stakeholders. Ultimately, the project will improve the working conditions and skills of music authors and would contribute to provide to the next generation of music creators a fair, sustainable, diverse and inclusive environment. |
