Description

Description

"Our secondary school, located in a rural area of Brittany, wants to set up a “European curriculum” to raise all pupils' awareness of the impact of the European Union on their daily lives. At present, there are a number of obstacles to building a European awareness among our pupils: geographical remoteness, lack of cultural diversity, low levels of international mobility, a disadvantaged socio-economic context and a lack of interdisciplinary coordination on the teaching of the European Union. Our project aims to strengthen the place of Europe in our school by integrating an innovative, cross-disciplinary educational approach. It is based on several structuring actions: -Creation of a progressive “European curriculum” for pupils aged 12 to 14, integrating Europe into several subjects (history, languages, ICT, technology, etc.). -“Discovery of Europe"" sessions every fortnight for 12-year-old pupils, providing an innovative approach. -Creation of a “European newspaper”, contributed by the pupils, to monitor and disseminate the project's activities. -School outings, presentations and theme days to reinforce the feeling of belonging to the EU, better understand how it works and open up to other cultures. The involvement of teachers will be essential: pupils will be taught about European issues through a coherent interdisciplinary approach. In addition, we will be using digital tools to work and communicate in a dynamic and more engaging way. This project will promote cultural openness, develop European citizenship and give all pupils a better understanding of European issues, regardless of their background. It will help to involve the educational community and give pupils the tools they need to better understand and take ownership of their role as European citizens. In the long term, this curriculum will firmly anchor the teaching of Europe in our school and promote active awareness among our pupils, preparing them to become enlightened and committed citizens of the EU."
