EDIH Saxony 2.0 aims to accelerate the digital transformation of SMEs and public sector organisations (PSOs) in Saxony, ensuring competitiveness, innovation, and sustainability. Building on the four established pillars—Test Before Invest, Qualification, Access to Funding and Capital, and Innovation Ecosystem and Networking—the initiative will target key sectors including smart production, smart energy and infrastructure, supply chains, health, adaptive robotics, and AI hardware/semiconductors. It will deploy enabling technologies such as AI, big data, HPC, robotics, micro-/nanoelectronics, and 5G/6G connectivity to strengthen resilient and sovereign digital ecosystems aligned with the Digital Europe Programme, the European Green Deal, and the AI Act. The renewed consortium brings together a strong alliance of experienced partners: Smart Infrastructure Hub/SpinLab Accelerator GmbH (Coordinator), Smart Systems Hub GmbH, Robot Valley UG, and BoOst Startup Ecosystem gGmbH. Together, they bring robust expertise in innovation support, startup acceleration, research infrastructure, and ecosystem building to guide SMEs and PSOs in implementing transformative digital strategies. This new project phase builds on the success of EDIH Saxony, which since 2023 has supported over 600 clients with 858 digital services. Successes include a precision metrology hackathon, a Smart City showroom, a diversity-focused startup summer school, and an international workshop. Feedback from SMEs and PSOs also confirmed a high demand for practical, high-impact services like hackathons, testbed access, fast prototyping, webinars, workshops, and funding support. These will remain a core focus, as they have proven particularly effective in driving digital change. Therefore, the EDIH Saxony 2.0 will build on proven impact, broaden outreach, and strengthen Saxony’s role in a future-proof European digital economy.
