Description

Description

In recent years, Artificial Intelligence has emerged as the key driver of digitalisation and has sparked a new industrial revolution. Value creation and supply chains are rapidly transforming, and small companies in particular, the public sector, and society as a whole are facing immense pressure to enhance their digital competences. To address these challenges, EDIH Suedwest has consolidated a wide range of services into a one-stop shop, focusing on key sectors of Southwest Germany: automotive, health, manufacturing, and the public sector. Whenever AI systems interact practically with the physical world, sensors are indispensable. With its focus on “smart sensor systems powered by edge AI”, EDIH Suedwest provides support along the entire value chain, from chip development to AI application in products and business model innovation, making it the only EDIH in Germany and one of the few in Europe to offer this complete coverage. This approach is complemented by a strong focus on resilience, helping organisations enhance their robustness. EDIH Suedwest 2 can build upon established structures and specifically expands its offering in the field of AI, adding new focus topics such as Green AI and HPC AI. To maximise impact, the EDIH addresses innovation and growth drivers on three levels: young talents and individuals, including pupils and students; founders, start-ups and spin-offs; SMEs, mid-caps, and the public sector. 10 partners form a strong consortium, ensuring well-balanced coverage both geographically and across AI technologies and services, with partners having direct access to innovation infrastructures such as AI Factories and TEFs. This is complemented by 15 parties active in the region, two EDIH corridors, and further networks. EDIH Suedwest 2 aims to deepen collaboration in the field of AI by bringing stakeholders closer together to catalyse digitalisation in the region while at the same time triggering impulses and cooperation with other European regions.
