Description

Description

This FC measure is intended to provide further participation in the European Fund for Southeastern Europe (EFSE) through an investment in supraregional C-shares of the fund in the form of a trust participation. The measure proposed here serves to acquire primary liable shares with a total volume of EUR 46 million; an additional EUR 4 million will be made available as an accompanying measure via the Fund's Development Facility (DF). The aim of the project is to provide loans - initially primarily - in Ukraine in conjunction with support from the accompanying measure to promote the economic situation of the population. The funds will be made available via Ukrainian financial intermediaries (so-called Partner Lending Institutions, PLI) in order to actively support the sustainable reconstruction of the country. To ensure this, a Ukraine sub-fund will be set up, into which the funds will be transferred after the participation has been acquired. The funds are intended for initial use in Ukraine in the first few years. As soon as the funds are no longer needed after the recovery in Ukraine due to improved economic conditions, they will flow back into the main fund as supraregional C-shares and will be available for investments in the entire target region. The measure makes a valuable contribution to deepening and broadening the financial systems and supports the economic situation in Ukraine and, in the long term, in the entire region. In addition, it makes a direct contribution to the core theme of sustainable business, training and employment as well as the initiative topic of reversing the trend of poverty and inequality.
