Regarding the specific objective of further developing the European Guardianship Network (EGN) this project will continue to expand the network of guardianship authorities and agencies, (local) authorities and international and non-governmental organizations. EGN will continue to strive for the development and improvement of guardianship services provided to unaccompanied and separated children (UAC) within the EU. There will be an exchange good practices, expertise and other relevant information, sharing of ideas and cooperation on common challenges, assessment of guardianship systems and cross border work, work on involving unaccompanied and separated children, work on raising the standard and quality of guardianship services, and the organization and participation in shared sessions to build capacity. Members and Partners involved in the network will be enabled to build and increase their capacity to develop coherent and coordinated activities around guardianship for UAC. The activities in the project will also enable other national and regional organisations in EU Member States working in this area to build capacity. In order to increase the impact of the network’s activities in the policy area, EGN also works alongside key strategic and political actors across the sector. EGN utilizes a high level expert to engage with senior figures at both the regional and EU political level and with other key decision makers and influencers within the IGO, NGO and State sector. EGN will thus inform and influence political and policy developments which impact specifically on guardianship of UAC and, more generally, on broader issues affecting UAC, within the EU.
