Description

Description

"“European Institutions and Citizens: Adapting the EU to the digitalisation challenges”, promotes the development of knowledge and new perspectives that serve to elaborate policies at the EU multilevel governance, and it aims to raise awareness among the public about the actions that the EU carries out for social groups and for specific individuals. European Commission has declared that it is committed to the current decade being Europe's ""Digital Decade"". Now, political implications resulting from digitalisation are obvious. An inspiring element of the digitalization strategy is that technology should be at the people’s service. Digitalisation will have an impact on all dimensions of social relationships, but also in democracy and political participation, public administrations and the provision of public services. How to avoid a digital divide between the different generations of Europeans? What kind of skills will they require? Then, EU's digital strategy will boost the digital skills of all Europeans and protect them and respect people's rights and is reliable. The proposal of this Chair presents, on the one hand, teaching and research activities, which aim to promote academic and research excellence in the field of EU studies. On the other hand, through events (and materials) it will try to promote dialogue, interaction between the academic sphere and civil society, as well as the transfer of knowledge applicable to the social and economic sphere. In particular, the research dimension of the Chair should allow knowledge and ideas to be obtained that can be used in policy-making activity (at European, state, regional or local level). Finally, the actions and events are aimed at a broad public and at disseminating knowledge about the EU to society in general. This proposal contains 5 work packages WP 1: Project management and coordination WP 2: Training and teaching WP 3: Communication and dissemination WP 4: Researching actions WP 5: Event organization"
